Pam Hurst

At age 17, while growing up in Tacoma WA, Pam attended an afternoon Deaf Church where she met Pastor’s Paul and Kathern Carlstrom. They lovingly began to teach her sign language so she could begin to communicate with the Deaf congregation. After graduating from Seattle Pacific with a BA in Christian Education, Pam continued to take many American Sign Language (ASL) classes. Finally, with the encouragement from her husband George, and three growing children, Pam enrolled in the Interpreter Training Program (ITP) at Seattle Central Community College.

After completing the two year program Pam was an interpreter for the Deaf before working for the Hearing, Speech & Deafness Center in Seattle as a Deaf Specialist. Pam educated hearing businesses about the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on how to provide equal access and accommodations for Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deaf/Blind people.

Today, as a residential Real Estate Broker with Windermere Northwest in Seattle she is available to interpret for her Deaf and Deaf/Blind clients. However, Pam’s passion is to praise the Lord signing worship music and teaching conceptually correct American Sign Language (in English word order) to hearing children and adults.
